We (3 couples) stayed for 2 nights as we were attending a wedding nearby. Instructions on how to find the cottage and gain access were excellent and although the track down to the cottage is a little steep and narrow we found it with no issues. Early pick up of the keys was also possible which was appreciated as we were attending a wedding the same day. What a beautiful location, lovely, comfortable, quirky cottage with a great pub (the Rose and Crown) and good food only 30 - 40 mins walk away (all up hill btw). Everyone in our group loved the cottage said they'd like to come back in the summer to enjoy the garden and surrounding area!
My wife, 2 year old son and I repatriated back to the UK from Africa during the Covid-19 pandemic and found ourselves needing a place to stay for 3 months. I was recommended to contact Vicky, as she was able to assist due to us not having another place to stay. We have had such an amazing time throughout our 3 month stay. Tyas cottage is a place where one can relax and unwind. The walking and interactions with nature and wildlife make this hidden gem in the Yorkshire countryside a must to visit. Vicky and John are the most amazing hosts, always being available on hand for any queries and we felt like we have made some great friends along the way. The garden was our sanctuary where we loved spending sunny days and there was always the log fire to enjoy on those colder days. The garden was great to host family (when able) for a BBQ or afternoon tea. It was a little emotional when it was finally time to leave. The relationship our little boy fostered over 3 months with Vicky and John was so lovely to see. We will be back to visit for sure. Thank you Vicky and John ! 🙂
Tyas Cottage is beautiful, restful, comfortable and the flowers from the garden a lovely touch. The garden itself is stunning, we just wished we could have spent a full day there.
A stunning location and a well-furnished property. The hosts were very pleasant and welcoming and the house is immaculate. There are lots of local walks or you can just relax in the lovely garden. The beds are very comfortable too!
Thank you Victoria and John for a lovely stay. We really enjoyed the grounds and your beautiful gardens. The setting was truly stunning and we enjoyed walking throughout the hills straight off the doorstep. Although the reviews and photos gave us an indication of the standard of your cottage the decor was much more than what we expected. A large country kitchen, a lovely dining area, a sitting room area with so much character, and all in a beautiful stone cottage. The location was also great for our needs. Manchester not too far away, the Yorkshire hills, and so many lovely little towns to explore. And the local food was great, especially at the 'Rose and Crown' in Slaithwaite, which John recommended to us (the fish pie was especially delicious). Needless to say we would love to visit again and recommend this little gem of a place to anyway travelling through or to this area.
